Cluey Learning

I worked as a UI/UX designer at Sydney based education startup Cluey Learning.

Primarily I was focused on the UX and UI design of the consumer facing website as the company rapidly scaled and we learnt more about our users. I also worked on motion design and video production projects.

Trust.

A major issue became apparent early on in my time at Cluey Learning. The Cluey business model relied on 1:1 remote sessions with a school age student and their Cluey tutor. The tutors were mostly university students. We received feedback from the Sales team that many parents of the younger students would want to know more about who their child’s tutor would be.

We spoke to several parents and created a Tutor Bios page. The page allowed potential customers to browse the tutors and read student feedback. This became a popular page and part of the onboarding experience for new Cluey customers.

Dual audiences.

Another challenge at Cluey was that we had multiple audiences to design for. Our data informed us that the senior high school students would visit our website and book the classes they needed independently. The junior high school students however would be enrolled by their parents as the parent may have felt their child was struggling in a particular area at school.

I tried to keep the visual design as student orientated as possible while still showcasing the sophisticated technology and expert educational staff available to customers.
